PHEV Model Capable of Over 50km in Zero-Emission Mode Also Available

The DS 4 has undergone a full model change to its second generation. It features a more solid and avant-garde design, with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model also being offered.
The body, inspired by the "DS AERO SPORT LOUNGE" concept car, measures 4.4 meters in length, 1.83 meters in width, and 1.47 meters in height, placing it in the C-segment. Large wheels up to 20 inches in diameter give it a distinctive presence.
The front light signature features directional light sources, reminiscent of the 1967 DS, and the DS MATRIX LED VISION system, with a total of 98 LEDs for the daytime running lights, defines the new face of the DS 4.
Moving to the rear, the sharp edges of the rear fender and the bodywork are painted in gloss black, emphasizing the C-pillar with the DS badge. This creates a more powerful impression of the muscular exterior.
In addition to the core DS 4 model, which exudes elegance, there will be three variants: the SUV-styled DS 4 CROSS and the dynamic DS 4 PERFORMANCE LINE.
The interior features a seamless, ergonomic digital interface divided into three zones. The new DS 4 also offers DS's top-tier interior grade, "OPERA," which creates a luxurious space with its iconic watch strap-inspired seats and extensive use of Criollo brown Nappa leather and brown ash wood trim.
The infotainment system is the 10-inch "DS IRIS SYSTEM," controllable by voice and gesture. DS claims it offers smartphone-like operability, with customizable icon layouts.
Additionally, an air purification system equipped with a PM2.5 particle sensor and interior/exterior pollution sensors is included. An additional filter system can optimize the air inside the cabin by purifying it in just a few minutes.
The chassis has been lightened using composite materials and other techniques. It utilizes a new version of the EMP2 platform developed specifically for the DS 4, with 70 percent of its components being newly designed or exclusive to the model.
At launch, a PHEV model will be available, combining a 4-cylinder turbo engine with a 110ps electric motor for a total system output of 225ps. It is said to achieve a range of over 50km in zero-emission mode under the WLTP combined cycle.
In addition, gasoline engines with three different power outputs and a 130ps diesel model will also be available.
The safety driving systems include an updated "DS DRIVE ASSIST" semi-autonomous driving system. This incorporates active cruise control, semi-automatic overtaking, speed adjustment for corners, as well as rear traffic sensors to avoid collisions from blind spots and other hazards.
The body colors include seven options, with two new shades: Copper Gold and Lacquer Grey. While sales in France are scheduled for late 2021, the introduction date for Japan has not yet been determined.
