Volkswagen Japan has given the crossover SUV "T-Roc" a minor change. Furthermore, the high-performance model grade "R," equipped with a 2.0 TSI engine, has also been newly introduced to Japan, and sales have commenced.

Exterior Design Updated, Interior Quality Enhanced

The T-Roc, which arrived in Japan in July 2020, has undergone its first minor change.
The minor change primarily affects the design of the exterior and interior. For the exterior, the design of the front and rear bumpers has been altered to create a more striking crossover design, resulting in an expressive front and a powerful rear.

A single LED strip is installed on each side of the front grille, flanking the emblem, while the front apron is equipped with newly designed hexagonal daytime running lights.
The interior has been improved with the new adoption of soft materials and leathertte with stitching on the dashboard and door trims, enhancing the sense of quality. The infotainment display is arranged like a tablet, and the digital instrument cluster, touch-control air conditioning panel, and newly designed steering wheel, all standard on all grades, create a modern cabin.

There are no changes to the powertrain, with a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo and a 2-liter diesel turbo available.
Safety equipment includes the "Travel Assist" all-speed lane-keeping system and the "Emergency Assist" system, which prevents accidents caused by unintended vehicle movement and minimizes damage by detecting when the driver is unable to operate the vehicle due to a medical emergency, all as standard.

To coincide with this minor change, Volkswagen Japan has introduced the high-performance "R" model to Japan for the first time. The exterior features exclusive front and rear designs, along with 19-inch alloy wheels and large blue-painted brake calipers.

The powertrain remains unchanged, featuring a 2.0-liter TSI engine producing a maximum output of 300 ps and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. Power is delivered to all four wheels via a 7-speed DSG transmission, achieving 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
For the T-Roc lineup, body colors include the new Petroleum Blue Metallic, Ascott Grey, and others, with the "T-Roc R" exclusively offering Lapis Blue Metallic, for a total of nine colors. Depending on the body color, the roof can also be chosen in black or white.
