Bentley has unveiled the "Bentayga S," an enhanced version of its SUV, the Bentayga, with improved dynamic performance.
Standard Fitment of the World's First 48V Electric Active Roll Control System
The Bentayga, first introduced in 2015, now welcomes its first "S" performance-enhanced version.
The powertrain is a 4.0-liter V8 gasoline engine with twin-scroll turbochargers, producing a maximum output of 550 ps and peak torque of 770 Nm. It achieves 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 290 km/h.
To harness this power as effectively as possible, the "Bentley Dynamic Ride" 48V electric active roll control system, a world-first, is fitted as standard. It generates up to 1300 Nm of torque in 0.3 seconds to counteract body roll during cornering, maximize tire contact, and enhance stability, ride comfort, and handling.
Furthermore, engaging "Sport mode" increases the air suspension's damping force by 15%. Dedicated sport mode tuning for the Electronic Stability Control and Bentley Dynamic Ride enhances steering feel and turn-in response, further reducing body roll.
Additionally, the torque-vectoring-by-braking system has been retuned to apply light braking to the inner rear wheel on corner entry, sharpening turn-in and improving response from the front axle.
The newly designed sports exhaust, fitted as standard, features primary and secondary pipes designed for smoother exhaust flow. Bentley claims that reducing the number of holes in the muffler enhances its characteristics and flow rate, contributing to a more performance-oriented feel.
Visually, all brightware, including the mirrors and side sills, is unified in black. The enlarged rear spoiler not only improves aerodynamic stability at high speeds but also creates a flowing roofline. The newly designed 22-inch wheels are exclusive to the Bentayga S.
Inside, the Bentayga S marks the first time Alcantara has been introduced in a V8-powered Bentayga, creating a luxurious interior. The fully digital driver information panel, shared with the Bentayga Speed, displays graphics inspired by high-end chronographs. The display items can also be customized by the driver.
The price of the Bentayga S is 26.9 million yen, with deliveries scheduled to begin in early 2022.
