Power Hidden Within Innovative Design
The JUKE is a new model that proposes a new style of compact car, targeting the global market. It was born as a novel and original vehicle by combining the agility of a compact sports car with the robustness and stability of an SUV, merging the appeal of each.
The main features are as follows.
1. Innovative Design
2. Vehicle Information Display Offering the Joy of Operation
3. Combining the Ease of Driving of an SUV with Responsive Handling
First, the design. Bold and strong details such as the sporty front and rear lamps and the prominently flared fenders immediately catch the eye. Furthermore, the sloping roofline towards the rear and the muscular body sides emphasize the sporty form. It also features boomerang-shaped rear combination lamps, sharing a design motif with the Fairlady Z.
The interior features a sporty cabin space that creates a sense of unity with the car, thanks to a center console inspired by motorcycle fuel tanks and door finishers. Additionally, distinctive door trims modeled after scuba diving fins and meters reminiscent of motorcycle gauges culminate in a novel and sporty interior.
The engine is an improved version of the HR15DE, known for its excellent performance and fuel efficiency. Torque in the low to mid-speed range has been further enhanced. This achieves excellent starting and acceleration performance, allowing for comfortable driving in both urban and highway conditions. Furthermore, it achieves a low fuel consumption of 19.0 km/L and, along with its "Heisei 17 Standard: 75% Reduced Emission Level (SU-LEV)" certification, all models comply with the "Incentive Tax System for Promotion of Environmentally Friendly Vehicles," qualifying for a 50% reduction in automobile acquisition tax and automobile weight tax.
Moreover, the combination of a high-rigidity suspension and high-performance shock absorbers ensures high straight-line stability. During cornering, it firmly grips the road, and the car responds directly to steering inputs, enabling sporty driving. Road noise and vibrations have also been reduced.
Equipped with a Newly Developed Vehicle Information Display
Of course, there are also notable points regarding operability. In addition to a high eye point and wide forward visibility, the bonnet and front combination lamps are positioned within the driver's field of vision, making it easier to gauge the vehicle's dimensions and achieving excellent maneuverability. The shift lever and parking brake are also laid out in a high position, and the audio panel is brought closer to the driver.
The center cluster houses a newly developed vehicle information display that allows for air conditioning control and switching between three drive modes: Normal, Sport, and Eco. In drive mode, the engine and CVT are controlled to provide three distinct driving experiences tailored to the situation.
The JUKE offers sporty driving enjoyment along with robustness and stability. The four-wheel-drive model, scheduled for release in autumn 2010, is expected to uphold the concept of a sports car and attract attention as a "four-wheel-drive capable of sporty driving."
