The New C4 Unveiled

Following the new C5 and C3, Citroën has released photos and an overview of its new hatchback model, the C4. The sharply defined front face, much like other recent new models, conveys Citroën's ambition.

Larger Body, Lighter Weight

The released photos reveal a design incorporating the sculptural lines common to the recently introduced C5 and C3. This distinctive styling can be seen as indicative of Citroën's future direction.

The body dimensions conform to the European C-segment standards: 4,330mm long, 1,790mm wide, and 1,490mm high. Compared to the current C4, it is 50mm longer, 20mm wider, and 30mm taller, with a luggage space of 408 liters, among the largest in its class.

Although the body has grown, the use of technologies such as laser welding has successfully limited the increase in vehicle weight to a minimum.

Equipment levels have also been enhanced, with standard features including blind-spot monitoring, cornering lights, and cruise control with a speed limiter memory function. The new "eTouch" system, which monitors the driver's patterns and offers appropriate advice for fuel efficiency, is also noteworthy.

Furthermore, although it will be diesel-only, models equipped with the "micro hybrid e-HDi" system, which aims for improved fuel economy through features like a stop-start mechanism and low rolling resistance tires, are also planned.

The new C4 is scheduled for its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in France in September 2010.
