Testing Open-Air Capability in a Closed Space

"Evoque Convertible" is an open-top model based on the Range Rover " Evoque" with its roof replaced by a soft top. Development has been ongoing since its debut as a concept at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, with the production model expected to be unveiled in 2016.

The newly released video shows a camouflaged Evoque Convertible driving through a long underground tunnel. This tunnel is actually part of a 42km-long section of the London Underground currently under construction. The vehicle was driven with its roof down to test its capabilities in this closed space, unseen by anyone.

As the developer stated, "Since the tunnel was still under construction, it was a unique opportunity to test the Evoque Convertible's off-road capabilities in a secluded area." The video begins with the vehicle being lowered by crane from a trailer and entering a 6.2-meter diameter underground entrance.

It speeds through narrow passages, cheered on by development staff and construction workers, navigates over stacked materials, dodges obstacles using the curved walls, and dives into a pool of drainage water. Finally, it makes a swift exit to the ground, minimizing exposure to the public eye, and is loaded directly onto a waiting trailer.

Land Rover has announced that further updates on the Evoque Convertible will be released by the end of this year.
