A Refined SUV for Relaxing in a Luxurious Interior
The INFINITI QX series, a North American exclusive model, was born in 2004. It is a full-size SUV exceeding 5 meters in length and approximately 2 meters in width. The second-generation QX, born from this full model change, boasts an even more imposing presence. Measuring 5,291mm long, 2,029mm wide, and 1,920mm high, with a wheelbase of 3,076mm, it is 35mm longer and 28mm wider than the first generation, while its height has been reduced by 96mm. The benefit of this enlarged body is said to be further improved comfort in the third-row seats.
The engine is a newly developed VK56VD direct-injection 5.6-liter V8 gasoline engine with "VVEL." It is essentially the same unit as the new Fuga, but tuned for a torque-focused setup. Compared to the previous engine, power is up by 25 percent, and fuel efficiency has improved by over 10 percent. A 7-speed automatic transmission is paired with the engine, and both FR and 4WD drivetrains are available.
In terms of safety, it successfully achieves the comfort and safety unique to luxury vehicles with features such as the newly developed "All-Mode 4x4" system that controls body roll, Lane Departure Warning to prevent lane departure, Blind Spot Warning to prevent collisions with vehicles in blind spots during lane changes, Intelligent Cruise Control, Distance Control Assist, and Intelligent Brake Assist.
Comfortable Features Complementing Refined Living Space
The exterior is based on the new "Patrol" and features a dedicated front mask and taillights, creating a signature INFINITI look.
The interior is lavishly appointed with leather and wood, and comes standard with an 8-inch monitor, HDD navigation, BOSE 13-speaker audio system, iPod interface, and Bluetooth hands-free phone system. Optional features include semi-aniline leather seats, a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, and dual 7-inch monitors, allowing for an even more luxurious ambiance.
The price remains unchanged from the previous model, with the 2WD model priced at $56,700 (approximately ¥5.35 million) and the 4WD model at $59,800 (approximately ¥5.65 million). Sales are scheduled to begin across the United States this summer.
