Minor Revisions to the 4-Door Sedan "Passat CC"

Volkswagen Group Japan has partially revised the specifications and equipment of the 4-door sedan "Passat CC," with deliveries commencing from late January at Volkswagen authorized dealerships nationwide.

Becomes a 5-Seater, Enhancing Comfort and Convenience

The Passat CC was unveiled in 2008 and went on sale in Japan the same year. To incorporate customer feedback received over approximately two years since its launch, this minor model change aims to further improve safety and comfort. Notably, there are no exterior changes.

The most significant interior change is the conversion from a 4-seater configuration with fully independent seats to a 5-seater by making the rear bench seat capable of accommodating three occupants. Volkswagen indicates this was the most frequent customer request. Furthermore, the rear center seatback can be folded down to serve as an armrest, contributing to improved convenience.

The model lineup remains the same: the "Passat CC 2.0 TSI" equipped with a 2.0-liter TSI engine, and the premium "Passat CC V6 4MOTION" featuring Volkswagen's familiar lightweight and eco-friendly full-time four-wheel-drive system, "4MOTION." The 2.0-liter TSI engine in the 2.0 TSI has been tuned to produce a maximum output of 211 ps, an increase of 11 ps. Both grades now feature an energy regeneration function, following the new Sharan and Touareg. The 2.0 TSI achieves a fuel economy of 11.8 km/l under the 10.15 mode test cycle, balancing excellent fuel efficiency with powerful performance.

New "City Emergency Brake" Function Enhances Safety

In terms of safety, the "Front Assist" front monitoring system, standard on the V6 4MOTION, now includes the "City Emergency Brake function." Front Assist is a pre-crash system that uses radar integrated into the headlights to detect preceding vehicles and obstacles, issuing warnings to prevent potential accidents. The newly added City Emergency Brake function operates at speeds below 30 km/h. If a collision with a vehicle or other obstacle ahead is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes to avoid or minimize the impact. Additionally, the multifunction indicator on the Front Assist system has been upgraded to full color for improved visibility.

For the 2.0 TSI, this minor model change also introduces a "Technology Package" as a made-to-order option, incorporating various driver-assistance systems previously exclusive to the V6 4MOTION. This package includes the aforementioned Front Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Assist, Park Distance Control, and a full-color multifunction indicator.

With these updates, the Passat CC offers an even more comfortable and safer driving experience. The 2.0 TSI is now priced at 4.95 million yen, a reduction of 110,000 yen from the previous model (the Technology Package is available for 304,500 yen), while the V6 4MOTION is priced at 6.25 million yen, an increase of 50,000 yen.
