Audi has unveiled the veiled silhouette and headlights of the upcoming new R8.

The first-generation R8 debuted at the 2006 Paris Motor Show as Audi's flagship sports model with a mid-mounted engine, and went on sale in Japan the following year. Since then, major faceliftand the addition of the open-top " R8 Spyder" , its sibling Lamborghini "Gallardo", which shared technology, passed the baton to its successor "Huracán" last year, heightening expectations for a new R8.

Announced as the first teaser for the new R8 are its headlights, featuring 37 LEDs. Furthermore, as an option, it is said that the laser high beam, also used in the Le Mans 24 Hours-winning "R18 e-tron quattro" and the limited edition " R8 LMX" of the current R8, can be equipped.

This laser high beam system uses four high-intensity diodes emitting blue light as a single module, which is then converted to white light by a converter for illumination. It boasts twice the illumination range of LED high beams, allowing drivers to see further at high speeds, thus contributing to improved safety.

The released photos reveal a novel design with slim upper and lower headlight units, framed by daytime running lights along their upper edges. Additionally, the large air intakes below the lights, which previously featured horizontal fins, now sport vertical fins, reminiscent of the "Sport quattro concept" presented at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, are also striking.

While Audi has not officially confirmed, the debut of the new R8 is anticipated as early as the Geneva Motor Show in March. We will continue to follow its developments with interest.
