BMW Unveils New Model for Families


BMW has unveiled the new 2 Series Gran Tourer, a model based on the 2 Series Active Tourer with an extended wheelbase that allows for up to seven occupants.

The New 2 Series: A Minivan for Up to Seven


The BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer, announced by BMW, has a body size of 4,556mm (L) x 1,800mm (W) x 1,608mm (H) and is a new minivan-type model appealing to families. Compared to the 2 Series Active Tourer, already available in Japan, it is approximately 200mm longer and 50mm taller.


The rear seats are a 40:20:40 split that can be folded with one button. The luggage capacity for five occupants is 645-805 liters, and can be expanded to a maximum of 1,905 liters when the rear seats are folded. Additionally, an optional third row of seats for two people is available, and can be stored in the luggage floor when not needed.

The 2 Series Gran Tourer lineup includes five models: the 1.5-liter 3-cylinder "218i" and 2.0-liter 4-cylinder "220i" gasoline engines, the 1.5-liter 3-cylinder "216d" and 2.0-liter 4-cylinder "218d" diesel engines, and the "220d xDrive," the only all-wheel-drive model. All are equipped with turbochargers, with maximum outputs ranging from 85kW (116ps) to 141kW (192ps), fuel economy from 6.4-3.9ℓ/100km (15.6-25.6km/ℓ), and CO2 emissions from 149-104g/km.


The latest entertainment features and driving assistance systems are also available as options under BMW ConnectedDrive. Furthermore, a new entertainment system called "myKIDIO," debuting with the 2 Series Gran Tourer, is included to provide video and music content for children in the rear seats.


In addition to the standard model, variations include the "Advantage," equipped with features such as 2-zone automatic air conditioning, Park Distance Control, and cruise control with automatic braking; the "Sport Line," with sporty interior and exterior elements including lightweight alloy wheels and sports seats; the "Luxury," featuring chrome accents and leather details; and the "M Sport," fitted with the M Aerodynamics package.
