Features a 2.0-liter inline-four direct-injection turbo diesel with mild hybrid system

The Q5 Sportback is a new addition to the popular Q5 mid-size SUV, combining sportiness with practicality. It features the flowing, coupe-like roof design, proven in the A5 Sportback and A7 Sportback, applied to an SUV model, making it the company's third Sportback model after the e-tron Sportback and Q3 Sportback.
While inheriting the Q5's design concept, the exterior is distinguished by its Sportback styling, with a dedicated design for the Singleframe grille, roof, and front and rear bumpers. The body is 15mm longer and 5mm lower than the Q5, with the same width. Despite the coupe styling, rear-seat living space is barely reduced, and the luggage capacity is comparable to the Q5 at 510 liters / 1480 liters (with rear seats folded) versus 520 liters / 1520 liters.
The interior features the latest MIB 3 infotainment system, similar to the Q5 which underwent a model change this spring. The 10.1-inch touch-screen center display enhances usability and contributes to a simple, clean cockpit design. Network connectivity uses an eSIM rather than a physical SIM card.
Seat materials are standard for the Advanced trim and a combination of Dynamica microfiber suede and leather for the S line. The Advanced trim also offers a Luxury package with artificial leather for the door armrests and center console, and rear seat heating.
The powertrain utilizes a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder direct-injection turbo diesel engine (TDI) combined with a mild hybrid system (MHEV) using a belt-driven alternator starter (BAS) and a 12V lithium-ion battery. This is paired with an efficient quattro all-wheel-drive system with an AWD clutch and a 7-speed S tronic transmission.
When the system determines that 4WD is not necessary, the AWD clutch disengages the propeller shaft, and a decoupling clutch in the rear differential disengages the rear driveshaft, driving only the front wheels. The BAS system also enables comfortable driving by completely stopping the engine during coasting, suppressing fuel consumption.
Audi SQ5 Sportback
The high-performance SQ5 Sportback comes standard with an S model-exclusive honeycomb mesh Singleframe grille with aluminum-look inlays and Dynamica/leather combination seats. The powertrain features a 3.0-liter V6 turbo engine (TFSI) producing 260 kW (354 ps) and 500 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed Tiptronic transmission. The quattro all-wheel-drive system with a mechanical center differential and S sport suspension with damping control reportedly achieve a balance of dynamic handling and a refined ride.
To commemorate the launch of the new Q5 Sportback, a limited edition "1st Edition" will be released. Based on the 40 TDI quattro S line, it features special equipment such as matrix LED rear lights (normally an option), contrast paint, 20-inch wheels in a contrasting color, suspension with damping control, and fine Nappa leather. A total of 230 units will be available: 130 in the communication color Ultra Blue Metallic and 100 in Glacier White Metallic.
Prices are 7.29 million yen for the 40 TDI quattro Advanced, 7.87 million yen for the S line, 8.37 million yen for the 1st Edition, and 9.67 million yen for the SQ5 Sportback.
