Improved Fuel Economy and Power

Volkswagen Group Japan has added the "Polo BlueGT" model, which balances high fuel efficiency with sporty driving, to the "Polo" that underwent a minor change in August, and sales began on October 7th.

Polo BlueGTThe "Polo BlueGT" achieves fuel efficiency through Bluemotion Technology, which integrates an idling stop system and brake energy recovery, along with ACT (Active Cylinder Management) that deactivates two of the engine's four cylinders under low load. Meanwhile, it is equipped with sports suspension and dedicated aero parts, giving it a sporty character second only to the top-grade "Polo GTI".



With this model change, the maximum output of the 1.4-liter inline 4-cylinder TSI engine has increased by 7kW (10ps), and the transmission uses a 7-speed DSG, boasting a fuel economy of 21.5 km/ℓ in JC08 mode, an improvement of 0.2 km/ℓ from the previous model.



To express the sporty character of the BlueGT, the exterior features dedicated front and rear bumpers, a rear spoiler, dedicated sports suspension that lowers the ride height by 15mm, and 17-inch double-spoke alloy wheels. The interior also comes standard with dedicated sport seats in Alcantara and fabric, with blue accents signifying eco-friendliness, as the model name suggests. Furthermore, paddle shifters can be added as an option in conjunction with the adaptive cruise control.



In terms of safety equipment, following the standard "New Polo", it includes the "Front Assist Plus" pre-collision braking system, which avoids rear-end collisions at speeds below 30 km/h, "Multi Collision Brake" which automatically applies the brakes to prevent secondary accidents in case of a collision or impact, a driver fatigue detection system, and a "rear-view camera" linked to the reverse gear.



Four body colors are available: Blue Silk Metallic, Pure White, Deep Black Pearl Effect, and Reflex Silver Metallic.



The new Polo BlueGT went on sale starting October 7th, with a price of 2,835,000 yen including tax. It is eligible for eco-car tax reductions, with 100% exemption from acquisition tax and weight tax.
