Audi Japan announced on October 27 that the new "RS Q3 / RS Q3 Sportback," high-performance models of the compact SUV "Q3" which underwent a full model change to its second generation in July this year, will be launched on December 8.

The RS Q3 / RS Q3 Sportback, launched this time, are the top-of-the-line high-performance models in the Q3 series. They combine a 5-cylinder engine, which has been selected as the best engine for nine consecutive years in the "International Engine of the Year" 2.0-2.5 liter category, with a quattro permanent all-wheel drive system, offering performance befitting a high-end sports model that transcends the SUV category.

The all-aluminum inline 5-cylinder TFSI gasoline direct-injection turbo engine produces a class-leading 400ps and a maximum torque of 480Nm.

The quattro permanent all-wheel drive system, paired with a 7-speed S tronic transmission, employs a compact and lightweight electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch. By variably distributing torque to the front and rear axles, it reliably transmits high power to the road, achieving excellent high-speed stability and handling stability. The 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 4.5 seconds.

The suspension is equipped as standard with RS sport suspension, which lowers the ride height by 10mm compared to the base Q3 / Q3 Sportback, and RS damping control suspension with electronically controlled damping force is available as an option.

The exterior features a singleframe grille with a black honeycomb mesh, large air inlets, RS model-specific front and rear bumpers, a rear diffuser, and oval tailpipes on both sides. The blister fenders at the front and rear, reminiscent of the classic Audi Sport quattro, and the deeply sculpted lower side lines express the power unique to the RS series.

Standard equipment includes 20-inch 10-spoke star design alloy wheels, with optional 21-inch alloy wheels, colored red brake calipers, ceramic brakes, and RS sport exhaust system available.

The interior features a design motif of an octagonal singleframe grille on the instrument panel. Equipped with the Audi virtual cockpit plus with RS model-specific modes and RS logo-adorned Alcantara/leather sport seats, it enhances sportiness and premium feel.

Furthermore, RS design packages are available as options, featuring S sport seats and accent stitching on the steering wheel, shift knob, seat belts, and floor mats.

The prices are 8.38 million yen for the RS Q3 and 8.63 million yen for the RS Q3 Sportback.
