BMW M3: Bavaria's High-Performance Sedan
BMW has launched a new high-performance model, theBMWM3 sedan.
A Potent 4-Liter V8 Heart
The M3 sedan, bearing the "M" badge that signifies high performance, arrives in Japan to join the previously released two-door coupe. This is welcome news for those desiring a high-performance four-door, five-seater.
Its powerful heart, shared with the coupe, is a 4-liter V8 unit with a redline of 8400 rpm. The resulting 420 horsepower and 40.8 kgm of torque are delivered to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
The body, shaped by the philosophy that "design follows function," features a domed hood, a large front grille to ingest air, and dual exhaust pipes that accentuate the rear. It conceals a fierce spirit within its refined form.

Naturally, the driving dynamics are also meticulously engineered. Hollow anti-roll bars are equipped on both the front and rear axles. The Variable M Differential Lock provides up to 100% locking action with variable action, ensuring high traction in response to changing road conditions. Furthermore, the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) constantly monitors driving conditions and stabilizes reactions to oversteer and understeer by automatically controlling engine output and individual brakes, allowing the driver to steer with confidence.
As an option for the "M Drive Package," EDC (Electronic Damper Control) is available. It not only optimizes vertical input from road vibrations during driving but also mitigates dive motion during acceleration and braking.
This sedan, which boasts "uncompromising driving performance and exceptional agility" alongside "all-round everyday functionality," achieves 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.
The BMW M3 sedan, chasing rivals like the Porsche 911 and Audi RS 4, is now available with a price tag of 9.73 million yen.
