Mazda's First Mass-Produced EV, the MX-30, Makes its World Debut
At the Tokyo Motor Show 2019, which opened on Wednesday, October 23rd, Mazda unveiled the MX-30, its first mass-produced EV.
Interior Features Eco-Friendly Materials Like Cork and Recycled Components
The MX-30, Mazda's first mass-produced EV, was designed under the "Kodo – Soul of Motion" design theme, with a "Human Modernity" concept aiming to complement new lifestyles.
The first thing that catches the eye is the freestyle doors that open like coach doors. Inside, the design around the center console creates a sense of openness, enhancing the spacious feel. Eco-friendly materials, such as cork and fabric made from recycled components, are used to create a comfortable interior.
The powertrain utilizes Mazda's electrification technology, "e-Skyactiv." Mazda claims it pursues the "joy of driving through Jinba-Ittai" even in an EV.
Sales will begin in Europe, with a launch in Japan planned for 2020.
The Tokyo Motor Show 2019 is open to the public until Monday, November 4th.
