Ferrari Debuts its V12 Spider, the Ferrari 812 GTS

Ferrari unveiled the open-top "812 GTS" on Monday, September 9th, Italian time. It is the spider model of the "812 Superfast" announced in 2017.

Rear Redesigned from the 812 Superfast

Fifty years have passed since the debut of the "365 GTS4," Ferrari's last front-mounted V12 spider. While there have been limited editions since then, this marks the first production spider in half a century.

The base is the "812 Superfast" introduced in 2017. Its 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine produces a maximum output of 588 kW (800 ps) and a peak torque of 718 Nm, making it Ferrari's most powerful production spider. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, achieving a top speed of 340 km/h and 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.0 seconds, and 0-200 km/h in 8.3 seconds. Its performance is nearly on par with the "812 Superfast."

The exterior features a completely redesigned rear from the "812 Superfast." It adopts a fastback style with a high-tail, two-box design reminiscent of the "365GTB4" in its side view. The distinctive aerodynamic bypass in the rear wheel arch of the "812 Superfast" has been replaced by a reconfigured rear diffuser with added flaps.

Furthermore, two small L-shaped flaps at the corners above the windshield suppress high-speed airflow into the cabin from the rear screen, preventing excessive pressure on occupants' heads. The retractable hardtop (RHT) can be opened or closed in 14 seconds at speeds below 45 km/h. The electric rear screen, which also functions as a wind blocker, rises when the top is down to enhance comfort, and lowers when the top is up, allowing occupants to enjoy the V12 engine's sound.
