40ps and 20Nm Power Increase
Based on the "5 Series," the high-performance model "M5" was engineered by BMW's motorsport division, M. This special edition model, "30 Jahre M5," celebrates the 30th anniversary since the debut of the first generation in 1984 and will be sold in a limited global run of 300 units.
The engine powering the 30 Jahre M5 is the same 4.4-liter V8 found in the standard M5, but it boasts a maximum output of 600ps, an increase of 40ps, and a maximum torque of 700Nm, up by 20Nm. It is paired with a 7-speed M DCT dual-clutch transmission. This allows for a 0-100km/h acceleration time of just 3.9 seconds, 0.4 seconds faster than the standard model.
To handle the increased power, the suspension and steering have received exclusive tuning, and the M carbon-ceramic brakes, known for their superior fade resistance, are standard.
The body is finished in a special matte paint, "BMW Individual Frozen Dark Silver." Additionally, details such as the black 20-inch M light alloy wheels, dark chrome finished kidney grilles, side gills with logos, door handles, and sports exhaust tailpipes are all in exclusive colors, emphasizing its special status.
The seats feature a special combination of black leather and anthracite Alcantara, embroidered with "30 Jahre M5." The M sport steering wheel, also in Alcantara and anthracite finish, and the dedicated aluminum trace dark interior trim with the 30 Jahre M5 logo create a sporty atmosphere unified in a monochrome palette.
Furthermore, it comes standard with a Bang & Olufsen high-end surround sound system featuring 16 speakers and a total output of 1,200 watts, as well asBMW ConnectedDrive Premium, which allows for remote navigation setting simply by verbally instructing an operator via the communication module.
Of the 300 units of the 30 Jahre M5 sold worldwide, only 11 will be available in Japan. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in November, with a price of 18.7 million yen, an increase of 3.17 million yen over the standard model.
This rare, special limited edition will be exhibited at the SUPER GT 2014 Round 6 venue held at Suzuka Circuit from August 30th to 31st. Following that, it is also scheduled to be showcased at hotel events in Tokyo, Nagoya, Yokohama, and Osaka.
