The Most Powerful Range Rover Sport, Finally Debuts

The First Model Bearing Jaguar-Land Rover's New "SVR" Sports Line
“Range Rover Sport SVR” is the first production model to be released by Special Vehicle Operations (SVO), a division established to handle special models within Jaguar-Land Rover. In the future, Jaguar-Land Rover will use "SVR" to designate models developed by this division.
The engine is a 5.0-liter V8 supercharged unit, delivering a maximum output of 550ps and peak torque of 680Nm. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. While increasing output by 40ps and torque by 56Nm compared to the existing "Range Rover Sport Autobiography Dynamic" model with the same 5-liter V8 supercharged engine, fuel economy remains at approximately 12.8ℓ/100km (about 7.8km/ℓ), virtually unchanged.
The ZF-sourced cross-ratio transmission features a strategy that selects the optimal shift pattern from 25 possibilities based on road and driving conditions. Of course, manual shifting is possible via the paddles or shift lever. It also includes automatic rev-matching on downshifts, rapid downshifts during braking, and corner recognition that stabilizes the vehicle by holding a gear through turns before resuming sharp response on straights. Shift times have also been reduced by up to 50 percent.

Nürburgring Time: 8 Minutes 14 Seconds
The chassis is based on the all-aluminum monocoque used in the "Range Rover Sport",
The 4WD system's center differential is equipped with an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch, optimizing torque distribution between the front and rear wheels from 0-100 percent. To enhance sporty driving, the programming has been revised to prioritize rear-wheel traction, and a Dynamic Active Rear Locking Differential has been adopted. By locking the gears earlier and for longer durations than before, it contributes to the vehicle's agility.
Torque Vectoring by Braking, which suppresses understeer and enables quick responses by controlling the torque distribution and braking of all four wheels via the traction control system during cornering, has also been re-engineered for the Range Rover Sport SVR.
Thanks to the integration of the latest technology and dedicated engineering in various areas, it boasts a 0-100km/h acceleration of 4.7 seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to 260km/h. Furthermore, its lap time on the Nürburgring Nordschleife is reportedly 8 minutes and 14 seconds, a top-tier performance for a production SUV.

First System to Deliver a Sporty Exhaust Note
In achieving this high performance, the "SUV" capabilities of the Range Rover Sport have not been compromised. It retains its original off-road prowess, equipped with advanced features such as a two-speed transfer box (high/low range), electronic traction control, All-Terrain Response 2 system, and Wade Sensing.
Additionally, the Range Rover Sport SVR is equipped with Land Rover's first electronically controlled two-stage active exhaust system. This new system features enlarged exhaust pipe diameters under the floor, contributing to increased engine output while incorporating a mechanism that produces a sporty exhaust sound. The driver can also select a QUIET mode for reduced noise. This SUV's uncharacteristic sporty sound can be experienced in the video.
The exterior features special SVR model enhancements, including larger front air intakes for cooling the engine and supercharger, an "NVH comb" under the bumper to suppress noise, vibration, and harshness, and a newly developed rear spoiler. Furthermore, the lower section of the front bumper can be removed for serious off-road driving.
The tires are 21-inch all-season units with a 275/45 size as standard. Additionally, Land Rover's first performance tires are available as an option: 295/40R22 Continental "Sport Contact 5."
The interior trim is standard with turned aluminum, and carbon fiber is available as an option. The seats are Windsor leather sports seats, available in four colors.
A total of seven body colors are available, with "Estoril Blue" being exclusive to the Range Rover Sport SVR. The roof is standard black, creating a contrast with the body color.
