Achieves 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds
Since theS-Class Coupehad its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and following the addition of theNew York Auto Showin April,New York Auto Showcame the arrival of theS 63 AMG Coupe, the successor to the previousCL 65 AMG, the "S 65 AMG Coupe."

Like other 65 AMG models, the S 65 AMG Coupe is equipped with a 6-liter V12 twin-turbo engine that produces a maximum output of 463 kW (630 hp) and a peak torque of 1,000 Nm. In line with AMG's "One Man, One Engine" philosophy, each engine is hand-assembled by a master technician, whose signature is affixed to a nameplate.

This powerful engine allows the S 65 AMG Coupe to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. Meanwhile, its fuel consumption in the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) is 11.9 L/100km (approximately 8.9 km/L), an improvement of 2.4 L per 100km compared to the CL 65 AMG.



The transmission is the 7-speed automatic "AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic." This transmission offers three driving modes—Controlled Efficiency (C), Sport (S), and Manual (M)—which can be selected via buttons on the center console.

The Sport (S) and Manual (M) modes are programmed for a particularly sporty feel, shortening shift times during full acceleration by reducing ignition and fuel injection, while also producing an emotional sound. In Controlled Efficiency (C) mode, the ECO Start/Stop function, which is an idling stop system, is activated to help reduce fuel consumption.

Similar to the S-Class Sedan, a lithium-ion battery is used, achieving a weight reduction of over 20 kg.

Magic Body Control with Active Curve Tilting

The S 65 AMG Coupe features "Magic Body Control," which was a highlight upon the S-Class's debut, using cameras to scan the road surface and proactively adjust the suspension to keep the vehicle level. Additionally, it incorporates the function introduced in the S 63 AMG Coupe that suppresses body roll during cornering. This new feature, active between 15-180 km/h, allows for higher-speed, more stable cornering.

The tires are staggered sizes: 255/40R20 at the front and 285/35R20 at the rear. These are complemented by exclusive 16-spoke forged wheels, which interpret the look of classic sports cars in a modern style. The high-gloss polish finish on these wheels involves a two-step polishing process followed by a coating, reflecting meticulous craftsmanship.



The AMG high-performance composite brake calipers, housed within the wheels, are standard in gray, with an option for a sporty red. Ceramic high-performance composite brakes, offering a 20 percent weight reduction, are also available as an option.

As Mercedes-Benz's top-tier sports coupe, the interior offers a luxurious space. The sports seats, featuring diamond quilting, are upholstered in Designo AMG Exclusive Nappa leather. Furthermore, the Exclusive package includes a Nappa leather roof liner, a leather-wrapped dashboard, diamond-patterned door panels, chrome door lock pins, and illuminated AMG stainless steel door sills with white illumination.




Behind the three-spoke steering wheel with shift paddles, the instrument panel, like the rest of the S-Class, features a high-resolution color TFT LCD. However, the AMG specification includes a "V12 BITURBO" logo on the rev counter and a speedometer scaled to 360 km/h.

The standard head-up display is also adapted for AMG, showing not only the usual speed and navigation information but also engine RPM and the current gear. A large 6.5 x 4.5 cm touchpad for controlling audio and navigation is also standard on the center console.



As the top-grade S-Class Coupe, it comes equipped with a host of safety devices. Specifically, standard features include Driving Assistance Plus, which encompasses a 360-degree camera, Active Parking Assist with Parktronic, DISTRONIC PLUS with steering assist and Stop & Go function, PRE-SAFE Brake, BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, and PRE-SAFE PLUS. These are all cutting-edge safety features adopted from the S-Class.cutting-edge safety features from the S-Class.

With the introduction of the S 65 AMG Coupe, Mercedes-Benz now offers four high-performance V12 engine models, including the sedan "S 65 AMG", the roadster "SL 65 AMG", and the SUV "G 65 AMG".

The S 65 AMG Coupe will go on sale in Europe from the end of September. In Germany, the price is set at 244,009.5 Euros (approximately 33.69 million yen), including 19 percent value-added tax.
