Unrivaled Agility
The most powerful Continental GT in Bentley's history, the Continental GT3-R, has been announced. It is said to be a road-legal model inspired by the Continental GT3 racing machine, which was unveiled at last year's Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The 4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine, engineered by Bentley's motorsport division, delivers a maximum output of 426 kW (580 ps) and peak torque of 700 Nm. Combined with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission with shorter ratios, it drives all four wheels with a fixed front-to-rear distribution of 40:60. Weighing approximately 100 kg less than the Continental GT V8 S, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.
For reference, the flagship of the Continental series, the "Continental GT Speed", boasts a higher top speed of 330 km/h but accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds. The fastest V8 model, the "Continental GT V8 S", takes 4.5 seconds for the same acceleration. The GT3-R, therefore, offers unrivaled agility.
To ensure the immense power generated by the engine is reliably transmitted to the road, the GT3-R features torque vectoring for the first time in a Bentley, independently controlling the torque distribution to the rear wheels. Stopping power has also been enhanced with large brake discs – 420 mm at the front and 356 mm at the rear – featuring a carbon-silicon carbide brake system for high fade resistance. The 8-piston calipers are painted green, providing an accent within the black wheels.

Balancing Sports Car and Luxury Grand Tourer
The Continental GT3-R was not developed solely for speed. Its objective is to combine the strengths of the pure sports model, the GT3, with the luxurious touring capabilities of the Continental series. Consequently, the transmission and accelerator pedal response, among other elements, have been given more distinct characterization depending on the driving mode: 'Drive' for comfortable grand touring and 'Sport' for serious sports driving.
Externally, to emphasize its individuality as a special model, a new design for the front splitter alters the front fascia's appearance. Two cooling vents are incorporated into the bonnet, and the fixed rear wing is finished in carbon. The body color is exclusively Glacier White, creating a racing-inspired contrast with the black carbon elements and flowing green lines.
Reflecting its grand touring character, the interior of the Continental GT3-R features black and diamond-quilted Alcantara, creating Bentley's signature luxurious ambiance. Accents of vibrant green are added throughout.
The Continental GT3-R will be produced in a limited run of 300 units worldwide, with deliveries scheduled to begin at the end of 2014.
