New xLine Trim Introduced

The mid-size SUV "X3" is a mid-tier model in BMW's SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) lineup, positioned between theX5andX1.Minor Change in Home Market in FebruaryThe latest model, refreshed inside and out and equipped with the latest safety features, has now gone on sale in Japan.

The exterior features revised round, four-light headlights that now meet the kidney grille, and a redesigned front bumper with an "X" motif, particularly around the air intakes. Door mirrors with integrated LED fog lights and turn signals are now standard.



The lineup includes the "xDrive 20i" and "xDrive 28i" with different output levels of a 2-liter inline 4-cylinder engine, the "xDrive 20d" with a 2-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine producing a maximum torque of 380Nm, and the top-grade "xDrive 35i" with a 3-liter inline-6 engine. These are combined with standard, xLine, and M Sport lines, offering a total of 12 model variations.

The newly established xLine features matte aluminum accents on the interior and exterior, adding a stylish image to its SUV-like robustness. Meanwhile, the M Sport incorporates parts developed by BMW M, such as the M Aerodynamics Package and sports suspension, to achieve a sporty appearance and driving experience.

Safety Features Also Updated

Along with the design updates, safety features have also been refreshed with the latest technology. Active safety features include "Driving Assistant" as standard, which monitors the road ahead via camera to warn of dangerous proximity to the vehicle in front, provide emergency automatic braking, and alert the driver if the vehicle deviates from its lane. Additionally, a millimetre-wave radar is available as an option, enabling collision avoidance/mitigation braking in conjunction with the camera, as well as Adaptive Cruise Control that automatically adjusts speed to maintain a set distance from the vehicle ahead.

Improvements in utility include a hands-free tailgate operation that allows the rear hatch to be opened with a foot gesture even when both hands are occupied, a USB audio interface, and a hands-free telephone system.



The new X3 models all exceed the 2015 fuel economy standards, qualifying for reduced acquisition tax and weight tax, as well as a reduction in automobile tax for the year following registration. All models are right-hand drive only, with prices including consumption tax ranging from 6.02 to 7.72 million yen.
