For Those Who Refuse to Compromise on Their Car Choice

Following the debut of the "4 Series" as a two-door coupe last year, its derivative model, the "4 Series Gran Coupe" makes its first appearance in Japan. Sales will commence domestically on June 21st. The model BMW has named "Gran Coupe" is, following the earlier introduction of the "6 Series" four-door coupe model, the "6 Series Gran Coupe", the second model of its kind. Its greatest selling point is enhancing rear-seat convenience while retaining the coupe's flowing body lines.

While the rear seats in the "4 Series Coupe" already offered ample space, by increasing the overall height by 12mm to 1,370mm, head clearance has been secured. Simultaneously, the roofline has been extended 112mm further back, not only significantly improving habitability but also successfully maintaining the coupe's stylish silhouette. The rear seats accommodate three passengers.



The models being introduced to Japan are the "420i Gran Coupe," equipped with a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder turbo engine producing a maximum output of 135kW (184ps) and a maximum torque of 270Nm (27.5kgm), and the "428i Gran Coupe" with a maximum output of 180kW (245ps) and a maximum torque of 350Nm (35.7kgm).

The top-of-the-line model features a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder turbo, the "435i Gran Coupe." Boasting specifications of 225kW (306ps) maximum output and 400Nm (40.8kgm) maximum torque, it delivers performance befitting a flagship model.

Compatible with BMW ConnectedDrive, of Course

All models are paired with an 8-speed sport automatic transmission, with rear-wheel drive as standard. Furthermore, the "420i Gran Coupe" is also available with "420i xDrive Gran Coupe," featuring BMW's first all-wheel-drive xDrive system for a coupe model.

The exterior offers the standard specification, as well as the elegant "Luxury" and the "M Sport" which incorporates M Sport suspension and M Aerodynamics package.



In terms of functional equipment, in line with the latest BMW lineup, the "Driving Assistant" is standard, which includes functions such as front collision warning and lane departure warning, utilizing radar and cameras to support the driver. It is also compatible with "BMW ConnectedDrive," the cutting-edge telematics service that connects the car and smartphones via communication lines.

Prices range from 5.16 to 5.88 million yen for the 420i Gran Coupe, and 6.27 to 6.68 million yen for the 428i Gran Coupe. The top-tier 435i Gran Coupe is priced from 7.66 to 8.03 million yen. The 435i Gran Coupe is available with both left-hand and right-hand drive, while the others are right-hand drive only.
