Kangoo Arrives with 1.2-Liter Turbo and Manual Transmission

Renault Japon announced on the 15th that it will introduce the Kangoo"Kangoo Zen 6MT," equipped with a 1.2-liter turbo engine and a 6-speed manual transmission. Sales will begin on Thursday, May 22nd.

Achieving a More Intuitive Driving Feel with Downsized Turbo

The Kangoo stands out with its unique presence, thanks to its functional features like a tall and spacious luggage compartment, split rear hatch, and sliding rear doors, along with its pop-art style.It's still fresh in our memory that it received a facelift last August, with a front design aligned with Renault's new design strategy.

The "Kangoo Zen 6MT" being introduced this time is equipped with the 1.2-liter direct-injection turbo engine and 6-speed manual transmission found in the entry-grade "Zen," as well as the Lutecia" and "Captur".

The maximum output is 115 ps (84 kW) at 4,500 rpm, about 5 ps less than the Lutecia, and occurring about 400 rpm lower. The maximum torque remains 190 Nm (19.4 kgm) at 2,000 rpm. It is claimed to achieve an even more intuitive driving feel compared to the previous "Zen" model, which combined a 1.6-liter engine with a 4-speed automatic transmission with manual mode.

In addition, it incorporates fuel-saving features such as an idling stop function, Energy Smart Management for regenerative braking, and an ECO switch that reduces fuel consumption by up to 10 percent. Furthermore, support functions like Hill Start Assist to aid in starting on slopes and Extended Grip to optimize drive wheel grip on slippery surfaces are included.

The body colors are available in 7 options, the same as the "Kangoo Zen." The price including tax is 2,415,000 yen.
