A Jet-Black John Cooper Works Arrives for the Crossover and Paceman



BMW announced on the 18th that it will release the "Black Knight," a special edition featuring a jet-black body color, for the "John Cooper Works Crossover" and "John Cooper Works Paceman," sports models of the "MINI" brand. Sales have begun with a limited run of 45 units.

Matte "Frozen Black" Covers the Roof and Mirror Caps


"John Cooper Works" takes its name and racing spirit from the British engineer renowned for tuning racing cars that competed in historic F1 and Indy races. While currently offered across all seven MINI models, this time, a limited edition "black knight" has arrived for the SUV model, theJohn Cooper Works Crossover, and the coupe-style Sports Activity Vehicle, theJohn Cooper Works Paceman.

While John Cooper Works exteriors were typically characterized by striking red roofs and mirror caps, this iteration reimagines the design with an all-encompassing matte "Frozen Black" finish. Inside, red accents are used effectively to create a sporty ambiance.

Both models are equipped with a 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder direct-injection engine. It delivers a maximum output of 160 kW (218 ps) at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 280 Nm (28.5 kgm) between 1,900 and 5,000 rpm. With the overboost function, torque can be increased to 300 Nm (30.6 kgm) between 2,100 and 4,500 rpm. A full-time four-wheel-drive system is employed.

The sales volume in Japan is limited to 45 units. The price is 5.02 million yen for the Crossover and 5.08 million yen for the Paceman.
