The Jaguar XE is the first model to utilize the newly developed, lightweight, and highly rigid aluminum monocoque architecture, which was first seen in the C-X17 SUV concept revealed in 2013.C-X17This marks the first time any manufacturer has adopted an aluminum monocoque in this segment, boasting class-leading innovation and efficiency.

The powertrain will feature the new "INGENIUM" power unit, produced at a newly opened engine plant in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, UK. This series of lightweight, fuel-efficient four-cylinder engines will be available in 2.0-liter gasoline and diesel specifications. The XE will be the first vehicle to feature this unit.

The new "INGENIUM" power unit offers the greatest flexibility among Jaguar Land Rover's engine architectures, supporting both longitudinal and transverse mounting, and enabling various layouts such as rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

While the XE's body size will be more compact than other current models, it will be crafted as a modern Jaguar. The full lineup, including detailed specifications, will be announced in late 2014, with market introduction scheduled for mid-2015.
