Renault Captur Goes on Sale

Renault Japon will begin accepting orders for the new compact SUV, the "Captur," on January 31st, with sales commencing February 27th. This is the second model created based on Renault's design and lifecycle strategies, embodying the stage of Explore.

Renault Japon isCapturreleasing the compact SUV "Captur," which made its Japan debut at the Tokyo Motor Show, on January 31st.

The Captur is a compact SUV model with dimensions of 4,125mm in length, 1,780mm in width, and 1,565mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,605mm. It is the second model to express Explorer, as advocated by Renault'sDesign Strategy "Cycle of Life".

The powertrain is the same as the new "Clio": a 1.2-liter inline 4-cylinder turbo producing a maximum output of 120ps and a maximum torque of 190Nm, paired with a 6-speed EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch).

Its design features the latest Renault face, including a horizontal black grille with a prominent Renault logo, while its raised ground clearance and large-diameter wheels emphasize its rugged SUV image.

The specifications introduced in Japan come with the same powertrain but differ in equipment, offered in two grades: "Intense" and "Zen." The higher-end Intense model features two-tone body colors, zip seat covers, and 17-inch wheels.

The front seats have a shell shape that fits the body. In the Intense specification, the seat surface is made of "zip seat covers," a patented Renault design with flat zippers, allowing them to be removed and washed if they get dirty from rough use. Additionally, eight different seat designs are available, offering the enjoyment of changing them according to the season or occasion.

The rear luggage capacity is 377 liters in the minimum configuration with the rear seats slid all the way back, but by folding down the seatbacks, a maximum capacity of 1,235 liters can be secured.

Furthermore, features such as auto headlights, auto wipers, cruise control, and hill start assist are standard on both specifications.

The price for the Intense model is 2,598,000 yen, and for the Zen model, it is 2,498,000 yen.
