At the November 2013Tokyo Motor ShowandLA Auto Showwhich had its world premiere,Porsche's New Compact SUV, the Macanwill soon begin domestic reservations from February 1st.


The lineup in Japan will consist of two models: the "Macan S," equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine delivering a maximum output of 250 kW (340 ps), and the "Macan Turbo," also featuring a V6 twin-turbo but with an increased displacement of 3.6 liters and a maximum output of 294 kW (400 ps). Both will be introduced exclusively with a 7-speed PDK transmission and right-hand drive.


The Macan S is priced at 7.19 million yen, and the Macan Turbo at 9.97 million yen. Deliveries will commence after April 1st, so these prices include the 8% consumption tax. Options such as Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), which features a dedicated setup for the Macan, and air suspension will be available.

Comparing it with Porsche's other SUV, the "Cayenne" basic grade, which produces 220 kW (300 ps) from its 3.6-liter V6 naturally aspirated engine and uses an 8-speed Tiptronic (AT), is priced at 8.21 million yen. Even considering the 5% consumption tax, this is about 1 million yen more than the Macan S. On the other hand, the "Cayenne S," with specifications close to the Macan Turbo in terms of maximum output (400 ps) and torque (500 Nm), is priced at 10.65 million yen, making the price difference a smaller 680,000 yen.


Additionally,as reported by Mr. Ohtani, who participated in the Macan workshop,many parts are shared.


AudiThe "Q5," an sporty version of the "Q5," is equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 supercharged engine producing 260 kW (354 ps) and is priced at 7.49 million yen (including 5% consumption tax), positioning it between the Macan S and Macan Turbo in both price and engine performance.
