MT Model Arrives for the Kangoo

Renault will offer an MT model for the facelifted Kangoo, with sales beginning February 7th.

A Rare Combination Today

The Kangoo, with its minivan-like practicality—including rear barn doors that don't require much space to open, a tall, spacious cargo area, and sliding rear doors—and its distinct French car character, will now be available with an MT model.

Domestically, the model lineup consists of two trims with different equipment levels: "Zen" and "Actif." Both are powered by a 1.6-liter inline-4 engine producing a maximum output of 78 kW (105 ps) and peak torque of 148 Nm (151 kgm). Previously, only a 4-speed automatic transmission with a manual mode was available. However, starting in February, a 5-speed MT will be offered for the Actif trim.

Amidst the trend of downsizing, even in French cars, with models like the new "Lutecia" replacing the 1.6-liter NA engine with a 1.2-liter turbo, the Kangoo Actif MT stands out as a valuable model, allowing drivers to experience a practical naturally aspirated engine with a manual transmission.

Priced at 2,098,000 yen, it is 50,000 yen cheaper than the AT version of the Actif, making it the most affordable Kangoo model.
