Power Surpassing the Previous 5.5-Liter Engine

The CLS, popular for its elegant and sporty styling that evokes a coupe despite being a four-door, is now in its second generation. The current model lineup included the "CLS 350 BlueEFFICIENCY" with a 3.5-liter V6 direct-injection engine and the "CLS 350 BlueEFFICIENCY" and the "CLS 63 AMG" with a 5.5-liter V8 direct-injection turbo engine. The engine powering the new CLS 550 BlueEFFICIENCY is a newly developed 4.7-liter V8 direct-injection twin-turbo engine that boasts power surpassing the previous 5.5-liter engine. It incorporates the latest technologies such as a spray-guided gasoline direct injection system with piezo injectors for precise fuel injection, multi-spark ignition capable of up to four sparks within one millisecond, and twin turbochargers.

The maximum output is 300 kW (408 ps), a 15 kW (21 ps) increase from the previous 5.5-liter model, and the maximum torque is 600 Nm, an increase of 70 Nm. Furthermore, by incorporating an idling stop function and pairing it with a highly efficient 7-speed automatic transmission, fuel economy has been improved by 50 percent compared to the previous model.

The suspension is equipped with the "AIRMATIC suspension," an electronically controlled air suspension that automatically adjusts damping force and vehicle height according to speed and driving conditions, achieving a balance of excellent handling and a refined, comfortable ride.

Exterior Features the Sporty AMG Styling Package

The exterior adopts the AMG styling package, which includes a front spoiler and rear skirt, and the vehicle's stance is enhanced by 19-inch AMG 5-spoke alloy wheels. Additionally, features such as twin chrome exhaust tips and a single-louver front grille further emphasize its sporty design.

Standard equipment includes a glass sliding roof and a Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system. The Exclusive Package, which enhances the interior's premium feel, featuring semi-aniline leather seats, full leather upholstery, and an Alcantara roof liner, is available as a dedicated option.

Both left-hand and right-hand drive steering options are available, with a price of 11.75 million yen.
