Roadster Becomes First Model Eligible for Eco-Car Tax Reduction

The "BMW Z4 sDrive20i," newly added to the lineup, features a new generation 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo engine. It delivers sporty driving feel while achieving low fuel consumption and reduced emissions.

Combining technologies such as a twin-scroll turbocharger, High Precision Direct Injection, Double VANOS for optimized valve timing, and Valvetronic for stepless adjustment of intake valve lift, the engine produces a maximum output of 135kW (184ps) at 5,000rpm and a peak torque of 270Nm between 1,250-4,500rpm. Developed under the "BMW EfficientDynamics" design philosophy, which enhances the "Sheer Driving Pleasure" while reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

Furthermore, it adopts an 8-speed sports automatic transmission, a first in its segment, achieving both smooth and precise gear changes and improved fuel efficiency.

The Z4 sDrive20i Cruising Edition, announced simultaneously, is a special edition model equipped with features that enhance comfort during open-air driving, such as Turbine Spoke design alloy wheels for a sharp exterior, a wind deflector, and Servotronic.

This model is the first roadster to be certified as eligible for the eco-car tax reduction, meeting the "20% improvement over FY2010 fuel economy standards" and "75% reduction below FY2005 emission standards." It qualifies for approximately 50% reduction in automobile acquisition tax and weight tax.

Pricing is set at 4.99 million yen for the Z4 sDrive20i and 5.19 million yen for the Z4 sDrive20i Cruising Edition.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in late October 2011.
