2-Liter Inline-4 Produces 320ps
A new model has been unveiled, following the concept of the current Elise: a two-seater with a mid-mounted engine driving the rear wheels. Two body styles are available, roadster and coupe. The engine is a 2.0-liter inline-4 gasoline engine with a supercharger, producing a maximum output of 320ps and a maximum torque of 33.7kgm. Despite its small displacement, this unit achieves efficient and excellent performance through forced induction. However, the lightweight body, a hallmark of the Elise, is arguably what truly defines its driving experience.
The combination of a lightweight 1095kg body, a small-displacement supercharged engine, and a 6-speed manual transmission delivers performance figures of 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 270km/h.
Naturally, environmental performance has also been considered, with the incorporation of mild hybrid technology centered around an idling stop system.
The car is scheduled for release in the European market in the spring of 2015. Priced at £35,000 (approximately ¥4.6 million) in the UK, it remains an attractive option, offering high-performance sports car capabilities at a characteristically accessible price.
