100% Electric Drive, Yet Boasts 184 PS Maximum Output
The "9-3 ePower," Saab's first EV prototype intended for production, was developed based on the "9-3 Estate." It boasts a maximum output of 184 PS and uses lithium-ion batteries as its secondary power source. Charging takes approximately three to six hours, offering a driving range of up to 200 km on a single charge.
Furthermore, the power generated by its EV system achieves 0-100 km/h acceleration in 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 150 km/h (with limiter engaged). It has been refined into a model with sufficient performance for a production car.
In 2011, Saab will commence a large-scale demonstration test using 70 units of the "9-3 ePower" within Sweden. Early market introduction is anticipated.
