NISSAN GT-R Receives Minor Improvements

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has announced minor improvements to the "NISSAN GT-R," a multi-performance supercar, which went on sale nationwide on December 8th.

5 PS More Power, 0.1 km/L Better Fuel Economy

The NISSAN GT-R made its global debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2008, under the concept of "allowing anyone to enjoy the ultimate supercar lifestyle, anywhere, anytime." Since its launch in Japan in December of the same year and in North America in July 2008, it has garnered attention for its performance exceeding that of its European and American competitors, maintaining strong sales. Furthermore, in Europe, where sales are scheduled to begin in April 2009, it has already recorded reservation numbers significantly exceeding initial projections, demonstrating its global popularity.

True to its slogan of "a GT-R that constantly evolves," the improvements are not merely superficial design changes. Through the diligent efforts of the development team, the car's driving quality has steadily advanced.

First and foremost, the engine, which achieves overwhelming power and refined feel through daily craftsmanship by "Takumi" artisans, has seen further increases in power and improvements in fuel efficiency. Specifically, in addition to enhanced precision in the engine itself, computer control accuracy has also been improved, resulting in an increase in maximum output from 353kW [480ps]/6400rpm to 357kW [485ps]/6400rpm. Fuel economy has also seen a slight improvement, from 8.2km/L to 8.3km/L in the 10-15 mode test.

Price Increases by ¥840,000 for Standard Grade

In terms of the suspension, the adoption of new shock absorber structures and revisions to the suspension settings, including an increase in front spring rate, have achieved a balance between responsive handling and a flatter ride quality.

Externally, a new body color, Brilliant White Pearl, has been added. The special coating color, Ultimate Metal Silver, which serves as the image color, has undergone an additional polishing process to improve the color texture at the junction between the body panels and the resin bumpers.

Other changes include a reduction in overall length due to a modified front license plate mounting area (from 4655mm to 4650mm), an increase in fuel tank capacity, a change in the tone of the chrome color coat on the RAYS forged aluminum wheels, and the expansion of the Black Edition to include models equipped with Dunlop tires, which was previously exclusive to the standard grade.

The price for the standard grade "GT-R" is ¥8,610,000, the "GT-R Black edition" is ¥8,820,000, and the "GT-R Premium edition" is ¥9,240,000.
