Ferrari's 2+ Coupé, the Roma, Arrives in Japan for Private Viewing
Ferrari Japan announced on April 1st that the new 2+ coupé model "Roma," equipped with the latest V8 engine, has arrived in Japan. The model, which Ferrari describes as "an F1 machine dressed in an evening gown," will be showcased at private viewings for invited guests at Ferrari's official dealerships nationwide starting April 2nd.
The Concept: A Modern "La Nuova Dolce Vita"
First unveiled in Rome, Italy, in November 2019, the new "Roma" is a model that embodies the concept of "La Nuova Dolce Vita" (The New Sweet Life), a free-spirited lifestyle of Rome in the 1950s and 60s. It blends the elegant elements of that era into a modern form, merging breathtaking beauty with ultimate performance.
Ferrari describes the exterior design as "iconic, elegant, and timeless." It features a long-nose, short-deck style that strongly reflects the tradition of Ferrari's mid-front-engine grand tourers from the 1960s. To maximize aerodynamic performance, it is equipped with a movable rear spoiler integrated with the rear screen.
The interior, on the other hand, adopts a dual-cockpit style that creates separate "cells" for the driver and passenger. As Ferrari calls it a 2+ coupé, it includes small rear seats.
The powertrain features a 3.9-liter V8 twin-turbo engine producing a maximum output of 620 cv. The body shell and chassis are 70% completely redesigned using the latest lightweight technologies and advanced production techniques, achieving a power-to-weight ratio of 2.37 kg/cv, the best in its segment.
Federico Pastorelli, President of Ferrari Japan, commented, "The new Roma will be the most powerful and fun-to-drive mid-front-engine V8 2+ coupé in Ferrari's history. We also expect it to deliver excellent comfort and driving experience to Japanese users as a daily car."
