350hp Polestar for S60 and V60

Volvo Car Groupannounced this springhas finally unveiled the production models of the "S60 Polestar" and "V60 Polestar." Engineered by Polestar, these are high-performance 60 series models boasting a maximum output of 350ps.

Since its establishment in 1996, Polestar has been active in racing scenes such as BTCC (British Touring Car Championship) and WTCC (World Touring Car Championship) based on Volvo cars. Not long ago, they released the"Polestar Performance Package"which is still fresh in our memory.

The engines for the "V60 / S60 Polestar" are based on the 3-liter inline-six T6 engine, with the adoption of a new twin-scroll turbocharger and intercooler. Compared to the "S60 T6 R-DESIGN," the maximum output is 46ps higher at 350ps, and the maximum torque is improved by 60Nm to 500Nm. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters, featuring faster shift changes and a launch control function.

Of course, the engineering extends beyond the engine to the entire vehicle.

The spring rate is 80 percent higher than the S60 R-DESIGN, with sports suspension, custom Öhlins shock absorbers, and specially designed 20-inch wheels with large, low-profile 245/35R20 tires. The front brakes feature 371mm diameter ventilated discs and Brembo 6-piston calipers. The Haldex AWD (all-wheel drive) system has also been tuned by Polestar to increase torque distribution to the rear wheels.

These enhancements result in performance figures of 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h, where the limiter engages.

These "S60 Polestar" and "V60 Polestar," the first mass-produced cars engineered by Polestar, are scheduled for delivery starting in June 2014 and are planned for sale in various countries worldwide, including their home country of Sweden. Naturally, Japan is included among these markets.
