Instant switching between front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive introduced on all models

Two years ago at the Tokyo Motor Showat theJapan PremiereThe "Evoque," which garnered attention at its Japan premiere and is about to mark its second anniversary since launch. Its sophisticated style and all-terrain capability have earned it numerous international awards, and it has achieved over 170,000 sales in 18 months. The 2014 model continues to feature the 2-liter inline 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. In addition to incorporating the latest technology, new exterior option packages will also be available.


The biggest feature of the 2014 model is the adoption of the newly developed 9-speed automatic transmission from automotive parts manufacturer ZF, a first for passenger cars. With the increase from the previous 6-speed to 9-speed, fuel efficiency has improved from 9.0 km/l to 10.6 km/l in the JC08 mode, and CO2 emissions have been reduced by 19 percent. Furthermore, the smaller gear ratios in each step improve acceleration response and contribute to reduced shift shock and a more refined driving experience.

The "4WD Active DriveIn," which disconnects power to the rear wheels during stable driving for front-wheel drive, is also standard on all models. In addition to contributing to improved fuel efficiency, it can discern the necessary situation and engage within an instantaneous 300 milliseconds. Furthermore, "Torque Vectoring," which utilizes electronic differential and brakes, is also standard on all models. It controls torque distribution between the four wheels during cornering, suppresses understeer, and enhances agility and safety.


In addition, driver assistance features such as "Park Assist," which detects parking spaces and automatically operates the steering, and the quintessentially Range Rover "Wade Sensing," which measures water depth and warns the driver, are available as options.


The exterior gains three new alloy wheel designs. A Black Design Pack is also offered as an option for the bold and sporty "Dynamic" model.
