Driving Assistant with Pedestrian Detection Standard

The safety equipment now standard across all 3 Series models was previously introduced on theDriving Assistantwhich became standard on the 7 Series and 6 Series. This system uses an onboard camera to monitor the road ahead, issuing warnings to the driver in case of imminent collision risk (Forward Collision Warning), applying brief, light braking to avoid or mitigate impact when a rear-end collision is unavoidable (Collision Mitigation Braking), and alerting the driver to unintended lane departures (Lane Departure Warning).

Along with this standardization, the system now operates not only on vehicles but also on pedestrians, mirroring the updates made to the 6 Series and 7 Series.




The communication module is also the same. In the event of an accident requiring airbag deployment, it transmits the vehicle's location and status via a 3G connection and connects to an operator for rapid assistance from emergency services (BMW SOS Call), as well as facilitating smooth vehicle maintenance (BMW Teleservices).

Additionally, the iDrive controller, which manages navigation, audio, and vehicle settings, now supports a touchpad. In addition to the conventional dial and button controls, users can input characters and zoom in/out on maps by tracing the surface, enhancing intuitive operation.
