A New Generation of Aston V8s?
Mercedes-BenzThe day will likely come when Mercedes-AMG, the division responsible for Mercedes-Benz's high-performance cars, prepares a special V8 engine for Aston Martin Lagonda.
According to announcements from both Aston Martin and Mercedes-AMG, the two companies have begun moving towards a future where Mercedes-AMG will supply AMG V8 engines and electrical/electronic components to Aston Martin.
A final agreement is expected within the year, and if realized, a new generation of Aston Martins equipped with AMG engines will emerge.
As reported by OPENERS in June, Mercedes-AMG has, for example, supplied Pagani Automobili with a specially re-engineered version of its "M275 AMG" V12 engine, known as the "M158" for the Pagani Huayra.Huayrafor the Pagani Huayra, a specially re-engineered version of its "M275 AMG" V12 engine, known as the "M158".
It is likely that, similar to this case, we will see engines modified to Aston Martin's specifications, such as the "M157" V8 engine used in models like theE 63 AMG, emerge.
We remain keenly interested to see what kind of Aston Martins will emerge from the chemistry between these two companies.
