From July 11th to 14th, the Coronation Festival, an event celebrating Queen Elizabeth II's coronation, will be held at Buckingham Palace.
This year, at the celebration, an extremely rareBentleywill be on display.
This is the State Limousine, the official car presented to Queen Elizabeth II by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders in 2002 to commemorate her 50th anniversary on the throne, and it will be exhibited in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.
During the festival, visitors will be able to walk around and get close to Her Majesty's limousine, known the world over.
Development of this special Bentley began in 2000 under a plan called 'Project Diamond'. It was designed as an elegant car suitable for use in official duties representing Britain. The base was the Series 2 of Bentley's then-premium four-door sedan, the Arnage.
However, the State Limousine features a distinctive 'Panoramic Glasshouse' designed to allow the Queen to be seen more easily by the public, and for the same reason, its height is considerably greater than that of the standard Arnage upon which it is based.
The rear seats, upholstered in luxurious fabric, were created using models of the same height as the Queen. Furthermore, features such as doors that hinge at the rear and open almost 90 degrees ensure ease of entry and exit, making it a special specification for Her Majesty, distinct from the base vehicle.
Of course, its defensive capabilities are also impeccable, with armor plating, bulletproof glass, a blast-proof underbody, and a hermetically sealed cabin to protect the Queen from any potential threat.
The vehicle, weighing nearly 4 tons, is powered by the 6.75-liter V8 twin-turbo engine originally developed for the Arnage R, boasting a maximum output of 300 kW (400 ps) and a peak torque of 835 Nm.
During the event, Bentley will also showcase its renowned craftsmanship to the public through an 'Open Air Workshop', demonstrating skills such as leather stitching and wood trim selection.
