Third in a Series Commemorating 60 Years of Official Volkswagen Imports in Japan


A Special Limited Edition "Fender" Version of The Beetle Arrives



Volkswagen Group Japan will release the "The Beetle Fender Edition," a limited-edition model, as the third in a series commemorating 60 years of official Volkswagen imports in Japan. Only 600 units will be available.

Fender and The Beetle Unite



To commemorate the 60th anniversary of Volkswagen's official import into Japan, a limited edition of "The Beetle"The Beetle Fender Edition" has been announced. This model is based on the concept car "The Beetle Fender," which was exhibited as a reference at the42nd Tokyo Motor Showat the TOKYO MOTOR SHOW 2011. Although there was no announcement of a commercial release at the time of its unveiling, it has now become a reality two years later.

At the time of its announcement, the collaboration between The Beetle's debut in Japan and the musical instrument maker Fender created a significant impact not only on car enthusiasts but also on music fans. Many may still remember it.

The Fender Edition features special equipment for the interior and exterior of The Beetle. The most noteworthy aspect is the "Fender Sound System (400W total output, 10 channels, 9 speakers)," developed by Fender in collaboration with an automotive manufacturer for the first time. Inside the car, you can enjoy your favorite music with a realistic sound that rivals a live concert venue.




It is equipped with a specially tuned head unit RCD510 (6-disc CD changer, iPod connection device), four tweeters (60mm front, 50mm rear, with neodymium magnets), and four mid-range speakers (20cm front, 16cm rear, employing low-distortion dual voice coil technology).

Furthermore, a 20cm subwoofer with low-distortion dual voice coil technology, housed in a dedicated enclosure in the luggage space, is added to deliver high-spec sound befitting a premium audio system.

The exterior features specially designed 18-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights with LED position lamps, an electric panoramic sliding roof, chrome-plated door mirrors, and a special "Fender" emblem on the front fenders.

The interior boasts an instrument panel featuring "Sunburst," a two-tone wood design symbolizing Fender's traditional electric guitars, and front tweeters with "Fender" logos. It also includes interior ambient lighting that can be adjusted to red, blue, or white around the lower door trims and front mid-range speakers, showcasing meticulous attention to detail.

The price of The Beetle Fender Edition is 3.15 million yen, with a limited production run of 600 units.
