Features a Newly Developed Aluminum Platform and BMW Engine

The Plus Six, unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show this March, has arrived in Japan. This is the first new model in 19 years from Morgan, a company celebrating its 110th anniversary this year and still hand-building sports cars.

The Plus Six utilizes a newly designed "CX-Generation bonded aluminum platform." While the wheelbase has been stretched by 20mm, the suspension space has been expanded by 200mm, and storage space has increased by 31 percent. This platform, offering high rigidity and reduced weight, will be used for Morgan cars developed for decades to come.

Despite these advancements, Morgan's signature traditional wooden frame remains. Crafted by skilled artisans in Morgan's woodworking shop using British ash, the Plus Six's frame is thicker, stronger, and wider than that of the Plus 8, which was produced from 1968 to 2004.

The powertrain is sourced from BMW, featuring the "B58" 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder twin-turbo engine, also found in the Toyota Supra. It produces a maximum output of 250kW (340ps) and a peak torque of 500Nm (51.0kgm). The transmission is a ZF 8-speed automatic, which can also be operated manually using the paddle shifters or gear lever. It achieves 0-100km/h in 4.2 seconds.

While inheriting Morgan's design heritage, the front fascia is given a distinctive character with new design elements such as the headlights.

The interior also sees significant evolution, with an LCD screen installed between the analog gauges on the dashboard to display vehicle information. The dashboard itself features a new design inspired by 1950s aircraft instrumentation.

The seats are also of a new design. Reduced weight and increased rigidity allow the vehicle's behavior to be communicated accurately to the driver. Furthermore, a slimmer profile contributes to improved storage and footwell space.

The higher-grade "Plus Six Touring" and the "Plus Six First Edition," released to commemorate the new model, come standard with a detachable lightweight composite hardtop, allowing for changes in the car's appearance and functionality for added enjoyment.

Pricing starts at ¥13,932,000 for the base grade, with the "Touring" at ¥14,904,000, the "First Edition Moonstone" at ¥15,768,000, and the "First Edition Emerald" at ¥15,768,000.
