Further Evolution with the Integration of Latest Technology
Since its debut in 1998, the RX has been a core model for Lexus, sold worldwide as the brand's mid-size SUV. The new RX is a minor change model of the current generation, which debuted in 2015, featuring updates to its exterior, interior, and the integration of the latest technology.
The exterior features a spindle grille with an L-shaped motif block mesh pattern, redesigned front and rear bumpers to create continuity with the side character lines, and a sharper impression achieved by a more compact headlamp design.
While maintaining its traditional high quality, the interior now includes a touch display for navigation, additional USB sockets, smartphone storage, and the adoption of a touchpad-type Remote Touch. Furthermore, in the three-row seat configuration, the third-row seats have been improved, offering two selectable positions: one that expands legroom and another that prioritizes luggage space, adaptable to different scenarios. Additionally, a left-and-right independent separate seat configuration (6-seater) is now available for the second-row seats.
In terms of safety, the Adaptive High-beam System (AHS), which controls high-beam illumination to avoid dazzling oncoming traffic, has been newly equipped with a "Blade Scan AHS." This system projects light from the LED source onto a rapidly rotating blade mirror, with the reflected light passing through a lens to illuminate the road ahead. By synchronizing the LED light with the rotation of the blade mirror, the light distribution can be finely controlled, expanding the high-beam range compared to the conventional AHS and enabling quicker recognition of pedestrians and signs.
The functions of "Lexus Safety System+," which consists of a "monocular camera + millimeter-wave radar," have also been further enhanced.
In terms of driving dynamics, body rigidity has been improved through an increased number of spot welds and an extended bonding length for structural adhesives. Combined with enhancements such as increased rigidity in the hub bearings and stabilizer bars to reduce understeer and body roll, and the adoption of new shock absorbers that reduce high-frequency vibrations through rubber components, the vehicle achieves excellent handling stability and ride comfort.
