Orange and Black Contrast

As we have already reported on OPENERS,at the beginning of this year,Detroit Motor Showminor changes were made to the BMW roadster "Z4."

The new "Z4" has been introduced to Japan, and sales have begun.

The exterior changes, enhanced equipment, and the addition of a design package are the topics of this update.

Regarding the exterior, the ring-shaped lights, which are a key identity of BMW's front view alongside the kidney grille, are now LED. The body sides feature new chrome side finishers with integrated LED turn signals. The interior also boasts a high-gloss black finish around the display and air vents.

For the "Z4 sDrive20i," features such as a wind deflector, automatic air conditioning, hands-free telephone system, and speech control have been made standard, while keeping the price unchanged.

The biggest highlight this time is the newly added package option, "Design Pure Traction." When selecting the exclusive exterior color "Valencia Orange" from the seven available colors and the black hardtop, a new Z4 can be created in harmony with the interior. The interior, in addition to the areas around the display and air vents mentioned above, also features high-gloss black finishes on the door trims and center console, with the steering wheel and center trim becoming three-dimensional metal panels.



The price for the "Z4 sDrive20i" equipped with a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder turbo engine (maximum output 135kW (184ps) / 5,000rpm, maximum torque 270Nm (27.5kgm) / 1,250-4,500rpm) is 4.99 million yen, the "Z4 sDrive20i Hi-Line" is 5.40 million yen, and the "Z4 sDrive20i M Sport" is 5.75 million yen. The transmission is an 8-speed sport automatic.

The "Z4 sDrive35i" with a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder turbo engine (maximum output 306ps / 5,800rpm, maximum torque 400Nm (40.8kgm) / 1,300-5,000rpm) is 6.99 million yen, and the "Z4 sDrive35i M Sport" is 7.40 million yen.

The top-end "Z4 sDrive35is," equipped with a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder turbo engine, boasts a maximum output of 250kW (340ps) / 5,900rpm and a maximum torque of 450Nm (45.9kgm) / 1,500rpm, priced at 8.19 million yen.

The transmission paired with the inline 6-cylinder models is a 7-speed DCT.
