Peugeot 3008 and 5008 Adopt New Engines and 8-Speed Automatic Transmissions
On May 21 (Tuesday), Peugeot Citroën Japan announced the release of updated gasoline engines and electronically controlled 8-speed automatic transmissions for the Peugeot C-segment SUVs "3008" and "5008," designating them as the "3008 Allure," "3008 GT," and "5008 Allure." Sales have commenced.

Updated Gasoline Engines Complying with Euro 6.2
The "3008," which debuted in March 2017, and the "5008," a 7-seater with three rows of seating, have been equipped with updated engines and 8-speed AT transmissions. This update achieves an 8-speed transmission across the entire lineup for both the 3008 and 5008.
The installed engines are improved versions of the previous 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder turbo, now compliant with the new European emission standard Euro 6.2. Peugeot Citroën Japan claims that the adoption of a gasoline particulate filter for cleaner emissions, reduced friction, and an electronically controlled wastegate valve leads to further efficiency improvements and enhanced responsiveness.
The electronically controlled 8-speed AT (EAT8) was jointly developed with Aisin AW and offers three drive modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport. Notably, in Eco mode, a newly adopted freewheeling function disengages the clutch when the accelerator is released under suitable conditions, thereby improving fuel economy.
Additionally, the "First Class Package" (¥300,000), previously available for the diesel engine models "3008 GT BlueHDi" and "5008 GT BlueHDi" and including features like a panoramic sunroof and front seat heaters, is now also available for the "3008 GT" and "5008 Allure" models equipped with the updated gasoline engines.
Pricing for the models with the updated gasoline engines starts at ¥3,670,000 for the 3008 Allure, ¥3,850,000 for the 3008 Allure LED Package, and ¥4,090,000 for the 3008 GT. For the 5008, the Allure model is priced at ¥4,140,000.
