A Larger Body with a Lower Center of Gravity

The "Z4" announced last yearhas returned to Japan after approximately two years, evolving into its fourth generation.

The body dimensions are 4,335mm in length, 1,865mm in width, and 1,303mm in height. Compared to the previous generation, the length has increased by 85mm and the width by 75mm, while the height has increased by 15mm. However, the wheelbase has been shortened by 25mm, and the adoption of a soft-top roof, which contributes to a lower center of gravity, realizes high agility and maneuverability, according to BMW.

The soft-top roof is designed to harmonize with the low-slung silhouette, featuring a compact design. It offers a trunk capacity of 281 liters whether open or closed, and can be opened or closed in just 10 seconds while driving at speeds below 50 km/h.

The "20i" is equipped with a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, while the "M40i" features a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine. The former delivers a maximum output of 145 kW (197 ps) and a maximum torque of 320 Nm, while the latter boasts a maximum output of 250 kW (340 ps) and a maximum torque of 500 Nm.

To harness the power of this engine, the M40i comes standard with Adaptive M Sport Suspension. This is also available as an option for the M Sport version with the 2.0-liter engine.



Inside, the cabin features enhanced visibility displays, including a 10.25-inch control display and a full digital instrument cluster. Additionally, it offers the option of a head-up display, a first for the roadster segment.

Furthermore, the integration of the AI-powered "BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant" allows for vehicle operation and information access through voice commands alone. The system learns the driver's preferences based on usage frequency.

Pricing starts at 5.66 million yen for the 2.0-liter engine "sDrive 20i," 6.15 million yen for the "sDrive 20i Sport Line," and 6.65 million yen for the "sDrive 20i M Sport." The 3.0-liter "M40i" is priced at 8.35 million yen.

A Limited Edition with the Special Frozen Gray Paint

To commemorate the Z4's launch in Japan, a limited edition model called "Frozen Gray" will be available in just 30 units. Based on the 3.0-liter engine "M40i," it is equipped with 19-inch M light alloy wheels in a double-spoke styling 800M.

The interior features cognac-colored VERNESCA leather seats with design stitching and a Harman Kardon surround sound system. Purchasers will also receive a special bag in collaboration with Barneys New York.



Sales are limited to 30 units, with 10 of these exclusively available through applications via the BMW online platform "BMW Pre Order" from Thursday, April 4th to Friday, May 10th.

The price is 8.99 million yen, an increase of 640,000 yen over the base model.
