New Diesel Engine Entry Grade Introduced for the Q5
Audi Japan announced on February 4th the introduction of the "Q5 40 TDI quattro," a new entry-grade model for the mid-size SUV "Q5" equipped with a diesel turbo engine. It will go on sale on February 19th (Tuesday). Concurrently, a special edition model, the "1st Edition Black Styling," will be released in a limited run of 250 units to commemorate the sale of the diesel model.

Audi's First Clean Diesel Model in Japan
The Q5, fully redesigned in 2017welcomes the new entry model, the "Q5 40 TDI quattro." This model also marks the first clean diesel vehicle sold by Audi in Japan.
The "Q5 40 TDI quattro" features an electronically controlled common rail turbo diesel engine. The 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine produces a maximum output of 190 ps and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. Paired with a 7-speed S tronic transmission, it drives all four wheels via the quattro system. The JC08 mode fuel economy is 15.6 km/l, which is 1.7 km/l better than the gasoline model.
The engine's exhaust system comprises an oxidation catalytic converter, urea SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction), a coated DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), and an ammonia decomposition catalytic converter. Furthermore, the engine itself incorporates the latest technology, meeting both European emission standards EURO 6 and Japan's Post New Long-Term Emission Regulations. It is also eligible for the eco-car tax reduction.

In addition to the "Q5 40 TDI quattro," the same engine is also available in the sportier "Q5 40 TDI quattro Sport." The "Q5 40 TDI quattro" is priced at 6.36 million yen, and the "Q5 40 TDI quattro Sport" is 6.57 million yen.
To commemorate the launch of the TDI models, Audi is also releasing the limited "Q5 TDI First Edition Black Styling" in a run of 250 units. Based on the "Q5 40 TDI quattro Sport," this special edition adds features such as Matrix LED headlights, exclusive 20-inch wheels, and exterior black styling. The price is 7.46 million yen, an increase of 890,000 yen over the base model.
