New V6 Turbo Engine Delivers 118 PS Per Liter
The newly developed 3.0-liter V6 turbo engine in the new Porsche Macan S features a center turbo layout with the turbocharger positioned between the V-banks. By shortening the exhaust gas path between the combustion chamber and the turbocharger, and employing twin-scroll turbo technology, the output per liter has increased from 113 ps in the previous generation to 118 ps. Maximum output is up by 14 ps (10 kW) to 354 ps (260 Nm), with maximum torque increased by 20 Nm to 480 Nm.
The transmission is a 7-speed PDK. As a result, the 0-100 km/h acceleration time for models equipped with the Sport Chrono Package has been reduced by 0.1 seconds to 5.1 seconds, with a top speed of 254 km/h. Emissions have also been reduced, with a stated fuel consumption (NEDC) of 8.9 liters/100 km (approximately 11.2 km/ℓ).
The Macan's suspension, which features staggered front and rear tires like a sports car, has been enhanced with a change from steel to aluminum for the front spring forks and newly tuned sway bars. This combination of weight reduction and increased rigidity has improved steering precision and ride comfort. Optional features include the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) for improved driving dynamics and handling, active damper control, adjustable air suspension, and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus).
Furthermore, the front brake discs are now larger at 360mm in diameter and 36mm thick, exceeding the previous generation by 10mm in diameter and 2mm in thickness. Combined with copper-free brake pads, this enhances pedal feel and provides more direct brake response.
Inside, the new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system with a fully networked 10.9-inch full HD touchscreen is standard. It includes online navigation with real-time traffic information and voice control, as well as services such as a Wi-Fi hotspot and Porsche Connect.
The domestic specification comes with right-hand drive only, priced at 8.59 million yen. Deliveries are scheduled to begin with the "Technology Edition" (10,825,000 yen) and "Sport Edition" (10,821,000 yen), which feature enhanced equipment.
