The RS 4 Avant Arrives in Japan

Audi Japan has announced the release of the “RS 4 Avant” in Japan, with sales commencing on April 10th.

Equipped with the Latest Quattro

Following its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Showin March 2012, the Audi RS 4 Avant has finally landed in Japan. It is the most extreme model in the A4 lineup, featuring the 4.2-liter V8 FSI engine also found in the “A4” compact body. It boasts a maximum output of 331kW (450ps) and a peak torque of 430Nm. Paired with a 7-speed S tronic transmission, it achieves 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h, with fuel economy rated at 8.1km/ℓ under the JC08 mode.R8” compact body. It boasts a maximum output of 331kW (450ps) and a peak torque of 430Nm. The drivetrain is the all-wheel-drive Quattro system. Mechanically, the center differential is a crown-gear-type self-locking center differential, bringing the latest Quattro technology to the RS 4 and RS 5 models. Furthermore, like the "S4," it is equipped with a sport differential to optimize rear power distribution.

It rides on 20-inch wheels, with suspension specifically tuned for the RS 4 Avant. Compared to the A4 Avant, the ride height is 20mm lower. The overall width is 25mm wider due to the flared fenders, and the overall length is about 20mm longer, featuring an RS model-exclusive front face with a bumper incorporating large air intakes.

Additionally, the rear of the body is equipped with a rear diffuser and a roof-end spoiler.

The interior features carbon fiber panels and a black color scheme, with standard Nappa leather sport seats. In addition to black, Luna Silver is available for the seat color.

While minor, the shift knob and slim door openers have naturally been modified to be exclusive to the RS model.

The RS 4 Avant, while equipped as a genuine Audi sports model, retains its wagon body style and includes roof rails.

Audi Japan describes it as a "sports car that can be used daily."

Both left-hand and right-hand drive versions are available, with a price of 11.95 million yen.
