Lexus's newly announced compact crossover, the "UX," was developed with the concept of "Creative Urban Explorer (CUE)," aiming to be a "cue" for living a self-directed life in today's diverse and ever-changing modern lifestyle.

The body, measuring 4,495mm in length, 1,840mm in width, and 1,540mm in height, presents a solid, tough, and powerful impression while maintaining a refined design, with flared fenders creating a sense of agility.

The body, measuring 4,495mm in length, 1,840mm in width, and 1,540mm in height, presents a solid, tough, and powerful impression while maintaining a refined design, with flared fenders creating a sense of agility.

The interior features visual refinements that create a sense of spaciousness beyond its actual dimensions, incorporating the Japanese aesthetic concept of "borrowed scenery" (shakkei) into its design.

While maintaining a crossover silhouette, the adoption of the "GA-C" platform, increased body rigidity, and reduced weight for a lower center of gravity are said to achieve excellent steering response and stability.

The Urban Crossover

Two powertrain options are available: gasoline and hybrid. The gasoline model, "UX200," is equipped with a 2.0-liter direct-injection inline-4 engine producing a maximum output of 174ps at 6,600rpm and a maximum torque of 209Nm at 4,200-5,200rpm.

Meanwhile, the hybrid model, "UX250h," employs a newly developed hybrid system combining a 2.0-liter direct-injection engine (146ps at 6000rpm, 188Nm at 4400rpm) with a front-mounted motor (109ps, 202Nm). The four-wheel-drive "UX250h AWD" model is further enhanced with a rear motor delivering 7ps and 55Nm. By optimizing motor assist and engine speed, it achieves a pleasing acceleration feel while also delivering excellent fuel efficiency of 27km/ℓ in JC08 mode.



The suspension features newly developed MacPherson struts at the front and double wishbones at the rear.

Furthermore, it is equipped with advanced safety technologies, including the evolved "Lexus Safety System +," which includes lane-keeping assist functions.

The Lexus UX, an urban crossover developed with an eye not only on existing customer demographics but also on new targets represented by the millennial generation, is priced from 3.9 million yen for the UX200 to 5.35 million yen for the 250h "version L" AWD.
