Land Rover's First Mild Hybrid System
First introduced in 2010, the original Evoque pioneered the luxury compact SUV market, selling over 772,096 units worldwide and earning more than 217 international awards. The second-generation model refines its signature coupe-like silhouette, incorporates new sustainable materials and camera-based visibility features, and offers a diverse range of powertrains including diesel, gasoline, and mild hybrid options, positioning it as a luxury SUV suited for both urban environments and off-road adventures.
The new model's body, characterized by its distinctive sloping roofline and rising waistline, measures 4,371mm in length, 1,996mm in width, and 1,649mm in height. Notable design elements include slimmer headlamps and taillamps, flush door handles, a sharp shoulder line, pronounced wheel arches, and 21-inch wheels.
Inside, the cabin offers traditional leather as well as optional new materials derived from sustainable eucalyptus, wool, and recycled plastics. The design features clean surfaces and simple lines, complemented by the "Touch Pro Duo" dual touchscreen infotainment system powered by the latest high-speed software.
Advanced features include the "ClearSight Ground View," a world-first system using a front-facing camera to provide a 180-degree view of the area beneath the vehicle, and the "ClearSight Rear View Mirror," which displays a video feed from a rear camera onto the interior rearview mirror. The wheelbase has been extended to 2,681mm, increasing rear legroom by 20mm. Luggage capacity is up 10 percent to 591 liters, expandable to 1,383 liters with the 2:1:2 split-folding rear seats.

Plug-in Hybrid Model Also Planned
The powertrain lineup includes the 2.0-liter diesel engine "D180" (180ps/430Nm), the 2.0-liter gasoline engine "P200" (200ps/320Nm), the 2.0-liter gasoline engine "P250" (249ps/365Nm), and the 2.0-liter gasoline with mild hybrid system "P300" (300ps/400Nm).
In the P300, a belt-integrated starter generator mounted on the engine captures deceleration energy and stores it in an underfloor battery. When the vehicle speed drops below 17km/h during braking, the engine shuts off, and this stored energy is used to restart the engine when accelerating. Furthermore, a plug-in hybrid model is slated for introduction in approximately one year. Performance figures include a top speed of 205km/h and 0-100km/h acceleration in 9.3 seconds for the D180; 216km/h and 8.5 seconds for the P200; 230km/h and 7.5 seconds for the P250; and 242km/h and 6.6 seconds for the P300.
The four-wheel-drive system features "Terrain Response 2," first introduced on the flagship Range Rover. It automatically detects driving conditions and optimizes suspension, transmission, and traction settings to reduce driver effort. The maximum wading depth has been increased from 500mm to 600mm. The model also debuts Land Rover's first use of "Smart Settings," which utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to learn driver preferences and driving patterns, offering personalized support. This system can control not only seat position, audio, and climate settings but also the steering column, maximizing comfort.
Pricing ranges from 4,610,000 yen (P200) to 6,670,000 yen (SE D180) for the Evoque, and from 6,020,000 yen (S P250) to 8,010,000 yen (HSE P300) for the Evoque R-Dynamic. The Evoque First Edition is priced from 7,990,000 yen (P250) to 8,210,000 yen (D180).
